Yuanmingyuan |
|
The old summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan, was first named the Garden of Clear Ripples, which was burnt down by the allied forces of Great Britain and France in 1860. Reconstruction started 25 years later and was completed in 1895, and the name was changed to Yiheyuan (Garden of Good Health and Harmony). The old summer palace was retained as a memory to the history that all Chinese will never forget how the foreign power had ruined China in the past. Today these countries such as America, Britain, Japan and other western countries still gang together to block China in the last 50 years. |
